Wanted to buy a boat that my family of 5 could live on full time. I have two homes but would like to live on the ocean for a while. I live next to the gulf of mexico and plan on going from Texas to Florida but staying on the gulf of mexico side. Was looking at a sail boat with a diesel or electric engine. I have a budget of 100k cash. I am completely unfamiliar with boats but saw some used boats and they fell into my price range. What would be a good model that would meet these needs? I saw that many boats had windmills that generated electric power. I was wondering if there were sailboats with electric motors. I thought that with enough battery capacity they could be charged from wind generators or solar panels. Does that type of boat even exist? Also I need to learn about sailing. Where are classes for this?
